Matters Arising.

It was proposed by Tim Meadowcroft that the 2012 ANZABS conference be held jointly with STAANZ at Laidlaw College, Auckland, on 9-11 December, 2012. This conference would incorporate a couple of common plenary sessions addressed by Sarah Coakley, and there would be separate sessions for member papers on Monday and Tuesday. The conference would begin on the evening of Sunday, December 9th with a plenary session.
The proposal was affirmed by the meeting, and the Executive committee was instructed to proceed with the planning and costing of this conference.

New Business

ANZATS Conference, 2013
A proposal that the 2013 ANZATS conference be hosted in New Zealand was tabled by Paul Trebilco (chair of NZATS). This would be held in Auckland (most probably), from Sunday, June 30th to Wednesday, July 3rd. The various academic societies would join with NZATS to make in combined conference, to which members of ANZATS would be invited. Each of the academic societies (viz. ANZABS, ANZAMS, STAANZ, RHSNZ, Pastoral Theology Network), would invite and fund an overseas speaker in their area.
Moved Tim Meadowcroft/Tom Innes: That the meeting accept the ANZATS proposal in principle, and ask the ANZABS Executive to work with NZATS on the details of this. [Carried]

Note: It was noted that other major conferences at that time of year were the International SBL Meeting at St. Andrews, Scotland 7 -11 July, and the SNTS Conference to be held in Perth, WA, 23-27, July.

Financial Report.
A printed financial statement was distributed to the meeting that showed a final balance, after 2010 conference food costs ($585) and $400 for two postgraduate scholarships were taken out, of $1,366.60. The treasurer, Kevin Waldie, reported that the auditor was not happy with these monies “hiding” in the Good Shepherd College accounts. In consequence, after discussion, the following motion was moved:
Moved Tim Meadowcroft/Philip Church: The ANZABS balance continue to reside in the Marist Account and to be overseen therein by Kevin Waldie. [Carried]

Following a brief discussion about membership fees, it was moved “That a $20.00 membership fee, to be paid at the annual conferences, be collected in 2012, and 2013”. Moved Tim Meadowcroft/Kathleen Rushton. [Carried].
